Confederate Rose

I’m a self-proclaimed brown thumb when it comes to growing things, but I occasionally try anyway. My dad is quite good at it, as is my Mamaw. My dad has grown quite a few plants at his house that were started from plants at my grandmother’s old house, and he’s graciously shared some of those with me. I have some of Mamaw’s clematis growing on my mailbox and a row of red flowers (I think they are amaryllis) that came from her house.

Finally, I have a Confederate Rose shrub that started out as a small, brown stick broken off of my grandmother’s plant. We planted it last year and it grew to about two feet tall.

This year, it’s grown to about six feet tall and is ready to bloom!
