— I read Nicholas Sparks’ Dear John and The Last Song late last year, anticipating the movies of each this year. A friend shared this Entertainment Weekly article with me about The Last Song movie in which Sparks talks about how he wrote the coming-of-age love story specifically for Miley Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana, to star as the lead character. In fact, it was Miley’s idea. She told her agent she wanted to be in a Nicolas Sparks movie so he wrote one for her. Hmm…. My immediate reaction is that cheapens the story for me, robs it of it’s innocence, but then that’s only true if I let it, so I maybe I won’t let it. We’ll see.
— The same friend sent me info about a new Stephanie Meyer Twilight saga book, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella. I vaguely remember this event so not sure if I’ll read it or not. It’s timed to come out around the same time as the Eclipse movie this summer so my interest in all things Twilight may be be waxed enough by then that I’m more inclined to read it. It would make a good Kindle purchase, although right now it’s not showing up as being offered on Kindle.
